POWERS
SUPERHUMAN ANATOMY
Shatterstar is physically enhanced to a superhuman degree and has honed his body as a weapon for the entirety of his life. As a result, his strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes far surpass those of any normal human. He also has innate regenerative abilities that allow him to push himself to his limit for a prolonged period before suffering fatigue, recover from damage at an accelerated rate, and keep functioning even when he's endured injuries that would leave most people overwhelmed by pain or in neurogenic shock.

His senses and mind are similarly enhanced, giving him a keen awareness of his surroundings and allowing him to learn new skills more easily. While physical skills come to him more readily than mental ones, he can learn new languages or integrate new knowledge almost as quickly as he can pick up a new fighting style. This makes him remarkably adaptable.

His anatomy also includes other anomalies, such as hollow bones (that make him lighter than he looks) and the peculiar ability to shift the location of his organs in body (strange, but useful for someone that gets stabbed as much as he does).

All of this is the result of being the son of a bioengineered slave from Mojoworld rather than a mutant.
BIOELECTRICITY Shatterstar can generate immense amounts of bioelectricity and release it from his body to devastating effect. This energy is difficult for him to control, however, and must be channeled through a physical object (almost always his swords) if he wants to have any hope of directing it. When channeling this energy, objects are much more resilient and destructive than they would be otherwise, allowing his swords to cut through nearly anything. This energy can also extend outward from his blades, expanding his reach or allowing him to fire off blasts of bioelectric energy, albeit with a limited range.

If Shatterstar expels this energy without channeling it through something, the resulting blast is uncontrolled and immediately burns through everything he has. This leaves him exhausted and vulnerable, so he's reluctant to utilize his powers in his way unless he's backed into a corner.

The vibrational frequency of this energy creates a telltale hum and can be felt in the objects that channel it as well as the surrounding atmosphere.
TELEPORTATION Using the bioelectricity he generates, Shatterstar can puncture the fabric of existence and create portals that cross space, time, dimensions, and realities. Doing this requires intense concentration as well as an anchor that will help to focus his mind on the destination. This anchor can be anything from a memory to an object to a person, but it must hold strong significance for him. Once he's been to a location, it becomes easier for him to return there, but he still must have some kind of anchor.

As with the other uses of his bioelectric energy, teleportation exhausts him and will put him out of commission for several hours at a minimum. If his concentration is compromised or if he pushes himself too hard, the portal will close and anything unfortunate enough to be passing through at the time will be severed.

While his portals can cross time and alternate realities, this is exceptionally rare and not something that he has reliable control over. Getting him to Earth-367 from the echo of Earth-5742 was a fluke and the result of his powers, Ambrose and Illyana's magic, and Kitty's mad science coming together in one wild mess.
SKILLS
COMBAT Shatterstar is a gladiator and spent the whole of his life fighting to survivor and fighting to entertain. He's an expert swordsman, fighter, athlete, and acrobat with a flair for the dramatic. Are you not entertained? He'll do whatever he must to win a fight and, whenever he can afford to, he'll make a spectacle out of it.
TO BE DETERMINED?? Shatterstar has never needed or had the opportunity to learn other skills or even pick up any hobbies. Maybe he will now.
APPEARANCE
HAIR Red EYES Brown HEIGHT 6'3"
Shatterstar is tall, lean, and muscular with a sculpted physique. He has shoulder-length auburn hair (that was much longer before it was severed by a collapsing portal) that he often wears tied back and a handsome face marred by a strange black mark (a starburst pattern with six points) over his left eye. While the mark looks like a tattoo, it has been there all his life and is a tell of his mutant genetics; the eye that it covers often glows with the bioelectric energy that his body creates.

While practicality always comes first, he is drawn to clothes that have a bit of dramatic flare and he doesn't have the cultural awareness to turn away from anything just because it is deemed ugly or inappropriate or not for him by societal standards. So his wardrobe can be...interesting when it is not guided by others. He carries his swords everywhere when he's permitted to do so and is visibly uncomfortable without them.

PERSONALITY Shatterstar doesn't quite know who he is yet.

For most of his life, he had no agency and was constantly directed by forces outside of himself. He was a tool for violence and entertainment and nothing else. Even compared to the other residents of Mojoworld, he is inexperienced in the ways of any world beyond the bright lights of the arena and the brutal confines beneath it and that shows.

While Shatterstar isn't devoid of emotions, he is out of touch with them and he struggles to relate to other people or understand them. He isn't good at interpreting, or even noticing, social cues (facial expression, body language, tone of voice, etc.) and he tends to be quite direct when he attempts to express himself. Often, though, he doesn't know what he feels or thinks or wants and so exists in a sort of blank slate state. Trained to think about those around him as an audience to be served, he tends to be accommodating and will go out of his way to give people (especially his allies) what he thinks they want from him. Though, given his inability to understand others and how unaligned his experiences are with theirs, what he thinks they want is often wildly incorrect.

Not understanding much means that Shatterstar is curious about and open to almost anything. Everything in this world is new to him and he's keen to experience it all. This makes him impulsive and unpredictable, as it's difficult to know what will catch his attention or hold his interest at any given moment.

That said, you can take the gladiator out of the arena but you can't take the arena out of the gladiator. Shatterstar's guard is always up and if he encounters something that makes him think there is about to be combat or danger, he will likely act first and ask questions later. That's what has kept him alive this long, after all. He also retains a fondness for the rush of adrenaline that comes with combat, the pride that comes with a victory, and the adoration that comes from having all eyes on him. It will take him some time to adapt to a quieter life. Or, at least, one that is defined by more than fighting.

Fundamentally, Shatterstar is a stranger in a strange land trying to adjust to a new way of life that couldn't be farther removed from the one he came from. There's a lot of room for growth but there will be a bit of a learning curve...
REALITY Shatterstar did not originate on Earth-367. There is, in fact, no Shatterstar on Earth-367.

Instead, he's from Earth-5742, a reality in which Mojo abducted a young, comatose Charles Xavier and stole him away to his dimension. There, he hooked him up to a Cerebro-like device (the design of which he plucked from the man's own mind) and used him to locate mutants all over the world so he could abduct them to be gladiators, performers, and slaves in his blood-soaked, never-ending reality shows. The influx of mutant 'talent' bolstered the ratings, making Mojo more powerful than ever and his reign has persisted for decades.

While unsuccessful, there have always been rebellions attempting to overthrow the despicable dictator. Twenty-years ago, one such rebellion (known as the Cadre Alliance) led by Longshot and Dazzler, was brutally wiped out. In recent years, Cadre X emerged to take its place, recruiting many of the abducted mutants into their formidable ranks. Unfortunately, their plans would inevitably end in failure.

There is no happy ending for Earth-5742. Not unless the X-Men someday return to help their alternate selves create one.
HISTORY
FAMILY Longshot (Father, deceased)
A bioengineered slave, Longshot was created for no other purpose than to perform in Mojo's arena. Nevertheless, he had free will and was able to escape, initiate the Cadre Alliance, and fall in love with Alison Blaire. He was killed when the Alliance fell. An anomaly among his kind, a mutant of sorts, he had the ability to manipulate probability.

Alison Blaire - Dazzler (Mother, deceased)
A popular singer back on Earth, Alison was identified as a mutant and abducted by Mojo to perform in the arena. She was able to escape that fate with Longshot and form the Cadre Alliance. She was killed when the Alliance fell. Alison had the ability to convert sound into light.

Evelyn Free - Dazzler (???Mother???)
While she has a different name, Evelyn is identical to Alison down to the DNA and a genetic test would identify her as Shatterstar's mother. Fortunately, he only has distant fragments of memories of his mother. So this will...probably never come up? Though, he is drawn to her music for reasons he can't articulate.
Shatterstar was born in Mojoworld, the son of a bioengineered slave (Longshot) and a mutant stolen away from a neighboring dimension (Alison Blaire, aka Dazzler) that were both members of an unsuccessful rebellion aiming to end the tyrannical rule of Mojo. Named Benjamin Russell Blaire by his mother, he spent the first few years of his life in his parents' care, always on the run and barely getting by in the hidden corners of the world beyond the arena. It was difficult but it was also the only time in his life that he was treated as a person rather than a commodity. That didn't last long, though. That faction of the rebellion (known as the Cadre Alliance) was discovered and brutally wiped out. A few members escaped. Most were killed. Those that weren't had their memories tampered with and were returned to Mojo's service.

Far too young for the arena when he was captured by Mojo, Shatterstar was nevertheless prized by the dictator as a novelty, a cruel trophy, and a dramatic callback for a future audience, so he was allowed to live. His memory was erased, he was assigned the moniker Gaveedra Seven, and he was kept in isolation, trained as a combatant until he was deemed formidable enough to debut as a gladiator in his early teens. And that was his life. He spent years knowing nothing except violence and spectacle but excelling at both. He quickly earned the favor of the audience, becoming one of Mojoworld's most 'beloved' gladiators as he got older and honed his skills. He earned the name Shatterstar after an announcer proclaimed in dramatic fashion that he was powerful enough to shatter the very stars.

While the Cadre Alliance had been crushed years ago, the rebellion as a whole was never fully dismantled and had been quietly growing and spreading ever since. Especially as Mojo continued abducting mutants en masse, bringing more and more unpredictable powers into his arena. Becoming known as Cadre X, the rebellion had big plans by the time Shatterstar was rising to prominence and dominating the arena. Known to be half-human and a mutant like them, he was eventually approached by members of the rebellion. However, he had no understanding of a life beyond the arena and was initially unmoved by their attempts to recruit him. But he didn't spill their blood for it and he kept their secrets and that was enough to make some think there was a point in continuing to try. Eventually, [Character] managed to establish a tenuous rapport with Shatterstar.

This proved to be a life-altering decision, as when several members of the rebellion were captured and thrown into the gladiatorial arena to be made an example of, Shatterstar came to the defense of [Character]. He took a fatal injury in the process, but used his powers to create a portal for them and help them to escape before he was felled by his fellow gladiators.

In his reality's actual timeline, this is where Shatterstar died.

While his actions saved [Character] and gave the rebellion more time, they were ultimately rooted out and crushed by Mojo like the Cadre Alliance before them. Those that weren't killed were captured and had there memories altered, just to start the whole thing over again. It was a grim fate.

However, after escaping from an echo of his reality through a combination of mutant powers, magic, and mad science, Shatterstar has stumbled into a new life in Earth-367 and become a member of the X-Men.
